famous financier completed this historical building in 1867. With a view of Newport on clear days, it was the mansion on the lake.
Home of Dr. George Austin Bowen from 1909 to 1949, the residence became Magog’s first clinic during the epidemics of the early 1900s. in 1952, it became the Hotel Château du Lac and was popular for Magog’s receptions and weddings.
The Hotel closed down in 1982 and had a succession of owners for 15 years.
The building was left to deteriorate until 1999 when Ms Christine Pryce purchased it.
She completely rebuilt the interior and decorated tastefully with expansion still to come!
